The world economy is set to be affected drastically by the rising temperatures associated with climate change. In fact according to research by the UN, the loss of productivity by 2030 due to hot weather is estimated at $A2.63 trillion. Some parts of the world will be more affected than others and in certain places, it will be extremely difficult to work due to the weather.
Construction is one of those sectors affected by the weather, whether it be heat or snow. The loss of productivity could be crippling to the construction sector in some places.
For example in Southeast Asia, as much as 20 per cent of annuaL work hours could lost in jobs with exposure to extreme heat and this may double by the year 2050.
Natural disasters are also on the rise with 1.2 billon people in Asia Pacific being affected by 1215 disasters.
