Be Proactive about Noise Control – Businesses Warned

Hearing protection is often an aspect of workplace safety that goes unattended by employers, but the construction industry is one of those where its vital to have an effective noise control system.

WorkSafe New Zealand is reminding all workers and businesses to pay attention to noise control systems at work.

In a post on SafetyCulture.com.au, WorkSafe New Zealand highlighted the case of one company that was succeeding in their noise control efforts, an engineering firm that through its health and safety committee made a number of effective changes to reduce noise and protect workers.

Not only did the company modify machines, they also placed vibration pads under machines to reduce noise.They also introduced noise-reducing boxes which dropped noise levels by up to 60 per cent.
