The Canadian federal government has banned asbestos use in all new construction and renovations projects at buildings it operates as of April 1st 2016.
Earlier this year it was revealed that asbestos laden building materials were still be used in new construction of federal buildings in the country.
Now the government is taking steps towards ending the practice in the country, as we have seen done here in Australia.
In Australia asbestos has been banned completely since December 2013, however it was removed from building products in the 1980s.
In addition to Australia, New Zealand and all 28 members of the European Union have asbestos bans in place.
