Construction Activity Surges to 12 Year High

The latest statistics reveal that while retail spending has slowed, construction activity has grown at its fastest rate in almost 12 years.

In July, the Performance of Construction Index rose 4.5 points to 60.5 points, according to the Australian Industry Group (AIG) and Housing Industry Association (HIA) – anything over 50 points indicates the industry is expanding.

This growth was attributed to the apartment construction boom in metro areas as well as infrastructure projects underway.

Commercial construction rose to its highest level since September 2005.  Find out  more http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-07/retail-spending-and-construction-surges/8782794
