We’ve always known we’re doing important work as construction workers because people live their lives in the structures we create but recent research indicates that beautiful buildings may have more of an impact on people than we thought.
Research to come out of the Warwick Business School in Coventry, UK indicates that scenic surroundings have a positive impact on the health of people.
During their research PhD student Chanuki Seresinhe, associate professor of Behavioural Science and Finance Tobias Preis, and associate professor of Behavioural Science Suzy Moat found that people were impacted more by beautiful man-made structures and buildings than just nature and green space. Where these buildings were deemed beautiful, people demonstrated better health, despite socioeconomic factors.
The results were published in a paper titled Quantifying the Impact of Scenic Environments on Health. Read more about the research at : https://sourceable.net/beautiful-architecture-positively-affects-human-health-2/#
