We all know that water is one of our most valuable resources but it is startling to hear that by the year 2025, 2.7 billion people around the world will face water shortages. In just 10 years, more than a third of the world’s population will be suffering the consequences of a shortage of this valuable commodity.
With Australia being the world’s driest inhabited continent, this is a particularly concerning revelation to us. We need to look at ways to address water issues now.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that eastern Australia is experiencing yet another El Niño effect – hot days and below average rainfall, indicating that we may see the consequences of this shortage of water sooner rather than later.
