Following an incident with a bobcat, a construction worker is in hospital undergoing surgery.
The man was crushed by a bobcat while working on a retirement village building site in Canberra’s south.
The Kambah site was shut down after the accident late on Wednesday.
Greg Jones, ACT WorkSafe Commissioner said the man was lucky to alive. He also described the accident as preventable.
It is believed the bobcat was reversing near a trench when it injured a plumber who was working in the hole.
He said there should have been barriers around the trench which could have prevented this incident. Inspectors also ordered that some scaffolding be completely removed and properly rebuilt.
The site had to remain closed until all issues had been addressed. Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-12/construction-worker-undergoes-surgery-after-bobcat-rolls-on-him/9042350
