Mental Health Awareness – What The Construction Industry is Doing Right

Although workers in the construction industry are at a high risk of suffering from mental health problems, in the United States they are also leading the way when it comes to dealing with these issues.

The construction industry in The USA has taken notice of risk factors such as seasonal unemployment, long hours, and exhaustion which put construction workers at the top of the list for mental health problems and in response have developed the Construction Industry Blueprint.

This tool is meant to help managers put protective measures in place to reduce the risk of suicide. It also provides employers with strategies to educate and support their employees.

As employers some of the things we can do is, speak up about mental health and help employees detect issues early on. It’s also important to support employees attempts to get help for mental health problems.
