According to an expert, the key to keeping your New Year’s Resolution is tracking your commitment rather than your progress.

While its normal to review your progress once you’ve set a goal, its best not to be too hasty tracking your progress as this could trick your brain into thinking you can get away with cheating. Instead question your commitment to the goal.

The advice comes from Chris Bailey in his New Year’s Resolutions Guidebook, which takes this lesson from The Willpower Instinct.
