Picture Shows Cyclone Recovery Construction at Galiwinku

Natural disasters can wreak havoc on communities and construction projects can be torn apart.

While it’s important to have emergency procedures in place to deal with natural disasters such as cyclones, to ensure that the safety of workers is the main priority, recovery from these disasters can also be a major challenge which site controllers should tackle systematically, and in an organised manner.

An example would be the aftermatch of Cyclone Lam and Cyclone Nathan which the Elcho Island community of Galiwinku have recently begun to tackle.
