Safe Work Australia recently reminded everyone of the importance of workplace safety not only at the start of the new year but throughout 2017.

Safe Work Chair, Diane Smith Gander said the holidays can be challenging for health and safety, given the relaxed attitude many people have on worksites.

However it’s important that we prioritise safety all year round to ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

Construction workers in particular should be cautious that when they are working quickly to meet deadlines and stick to strict time-frames, that they don’t do so at the cost of safety.

Employers should also ensure everyone on site is trained to be there, beginning with general construction safety training known as The White Card.
