According to Independent SA Senator, Nick Xenophon a senate inquiry currently underway in Adelaide is needed because current laws aren’t sufficient to protect small businesess and subcontractors from the consequences of the collapse of large construction firms.

The inquiry which began on Monday follows the June collapse of South Australian builder Tagara. The collapse affected hundreds of suppliers and subcontractors.

Witnesses called upon include CFMEU SA District Secretary Dave Kirner as well as small business owners.
