The construction of the Sydney Metro rail line will see several high rise buildings in the CBD be demolished in the near future.

While the construction activity is welcomed, it will cause major disruptions in the city, although planners have vowed to keep public inconvenience to a minimum with most of the construction going on underground.

Martin Place, the city’s central plaza will also be excavated to build a new underground station. Seven other new stations will also be built at Barangaroo, Pitt Street and Waterloo.

Around 150 houses and businesses will be also be demolished to make way for the new construction which include twin tunnels from Chatswood to Sydenham, running below Sydney Harbour.
