The Truth Behind Construction Worker Fatalities

This year has not been a good one for safety, with a number of construction workers losing their lives on the job. In October alone there were 5 construction fatalities, all within a 3 week period.

On October 6, two men were crushed to death by a concrete panel that fell from a crane in Brisbane, they were trapped inside a hole at the time with nowhere to run to escape the falling panel.

In another incident on October 10, a young woman fell down a ventilation shaft to her death in Perth. The woman was a German backpacker.

On October 25, a man fell to his death at a construction site in Sydney and on October 26, a man operating a boom lift was crushed death in Melbourne.
