A young apprentice almost lost his life after collapsing on a building site during a recent heatwave.

The incident highlighted the need for the new extreme-weather codes, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees last month.

The South Australian branch of the CFMEU said they would be contacting the state’s key building and workers association to meet soon and set out the extreme heat guidelines for private building jobs.
