Walton Construction Collapse Leads Senate Inquiry to Suggest Massive Industry Changes

Following the collapse of Walton Construction, a 12 month senate inquiry was conducted into how the construction industry operates.

The senate inquiry has suggested massive changes to the way the construction industry operates to overcome legal loopholes allowing operators to defraud their creditors.

It came to light during the inquiry that $3 billion in debt was going unpaid annually, most of it attributed to  subcontractor non-payments, employee entitlements and tax debts averaging $630 million every year.
