Worker Injured in Trench Incident

deep trench

Work in and around trenches can be tricky which is why this is one of the topics covered in general in the white card course, mandatory for all construction workers.

The consequences of working around trenches without the necessary safety knowledge can be seen through an incident that happened at the end of May, during which a worker was seriously injured after being trapped in a trench for several hours.

The man was working at a Victorian power station when the incident occured. He remained trapped until emergency services arrived and freed him.

His condition was stabilised on the scene and he was rushed to Melbourne hospital in a stable condition.
