The $20,000 grant for first time home builders will be extended in Tasmania for a further 6 months. The grant is intended to encourage people to build new homes, thereby boosting the construction industry.

Treasurer Peter Gutwein announced that the boost will be reduced to $10,000 from 2016 instead of July as previously planned.
