Fire Breaks Out Causing Site to be Evacuated

A fire that broke out on a major construction site led to construction workers being evacuated and 2 of them being treated for smoke inhalation.

The incident took place at The Star Casino’s construction site when some pipework is believed to have caught fire.

It took  3 fire crews about half an hour to extinguish the fire which was described as a “small blaze”.

The site was evacuated according to safety protocols and no damage was done, a spokesperson said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

This incident highlights the importance of having an emergency procedure in place on all work sites and ensuring workers have received all the necessary safety training. Source:

North Brisbane Construction Site Fire

The blaze that broke out at a north Brisbane construction site is said to have been started by a group of youths.

The four children set fire to sheets of shade cloth that were covering scaffolding at the site and were picked up by surveillance cameras.

The fire which can be seen in the picture on the right, ripped through the top level and spread to the middle of the building.

Thankfully firefighters were able to get the fire under control and no one was hurt.

Welding Sparks Fire on Darling Downs Construction Site

A small fire started on a construction site in Greenmount yesterday.

Rural Fire Brigade and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to the site around 1pm on Tuesday and found that a small fire had erupted, probably due to welding sparks which had landed on some cardboard and ignited.

Thankfully the fire was extinguished quickly, without causing much damage or any injuries.
