Another worker has suffered an excrutiating injury at a Queensland construction site near Movie World on the Gold Coast. The male worker was impaled by a drill while using the hammer drill.

The man was injured when the drill penetrated his groin area by approximately 5cm.

Ambulance personnel said the 42 year old worker had accidentally impaled himself and emergency personnel were assisting by cutting the drill bit.

The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for treatment and was lucky enough to avoid any internal injuries.

As the year draws to a close let’s ensure we pay extra attention when working with power tools or engaging in any high risk activities on the building site, particularly since this time of the year is known for a rise in workplace injuries.
